Single spey, Double spey, the Snake roll, the Switch cast.
A Perry Poke, a Snap T, a quick roll cast followed by a circle
Spey. If you’re confused, then this is the trip for you. An
absolute first in South Africa, Mavungana are proud to present,
and host, their first International Speycasting school. Instructors
Derek Manson, Mark Taylor and Jonathan Boulton, are all certified
spey casting instructors and guides, and combined with local
Norwegian guides and instructors, will be on hand to help
every level of speycaster master their technique.
Mavungana, through its Norwegian operations, have access
to the magical Osen Gard. An absolute pearl on Norways West
coast, Osen is a real fishermans paradise. 100% private access
to lodge, river and surrounds, on one of the more prolific
spate rivers the west coast has to offer, means not only will
you master the art of the Spey cast, but might even catch
a few fish for your efforts.
Accommodations are sublime, in the restored country lodge,
with a bronze statue of a 64lb Atlantic Salmon that welcomes
you on arrival. This will remind you that year on year, almost
without fail, Norway is responsible for the largest Atlantic
Salmon caught worldwide. Learn the technicalities of two handed
rods, their variations, and all the crazy casts now possible
with them. Fine tune your knots, learn to tie some key tube
flies, and simply have an amazingly grand time of Norway and
its Salmon fishing history.
