LAVERPA

7km outside Dullstroom Trophy Trout R150 per person

La Verpa consists of three, crystal clear, well stocked dams just 7km's out of Dullstroom. The dams are all around 1ha with good structure, consiting of channels, reed and weebeds, banks and drop-offs, with a productive inlet bay in each. The fishing is rewarding, with some bigger fish (5-7lb) being landed occasionally. Dry-fly fishing enthusiasts will relish the opportunity to target trout exclusively on this technique. A slight ripple from wind provides the perfect transitionary structrure for cruising trout willing to pick off a stray terrestrial.

Long leaders and smaller flies are reccomended for the clear water, and a stealthy approach will give you the advantage. A dry and dropper is exceptionally effective in all of the dams. A large, bouyant dry fly with a small midge or nymph suspended underneath will elicit takes from event the most skittish trophy trout.

The venue opens at 7am and closes at 5pm.

BIRD OF PREY DAM

1km outside Dullstroom Trophy Water R200 per person

Our most challenging stillwater, the Bird of Prey lake will test any angler's ability. The 3ha lake contains some massive trophy rainbow and brown trout.

A multitude of channels snake their way through the dense offshore weedbeds, accurate presentations with nymphs and streamer patterns are required and nerves of steel are needed when a trophy trout attempts to snag your line in the weed.

A floating line is very useful for presenting the flies in the strike zone, a team of nymphs will entice the trout as they sink naturally between the weeds. Trout of over 8lbs have been landed, and the possibility of landing a brown trout is always a treat.

FISH EAGLE POND

1km outside Dullstroom Catch and Keep R55 Kids / R95 Adults

Fish virtually guaranteed. A dead easy 'put and take' fishery. No Catch and Release allowed. Perfect for kids and introducing friends to flyfishing. Restaurant and Rod-hire on site.

Trout are R95 per kilogram, great for children learning how to fly fish.

Streamer pattern flies work well as the trout are 'stockies' and flies that incorporate lots of action will attract the trout from a distance.

Opening time is 9am and it closes at 4pm.
