The Mavungana Flyfishing Centre in Dullstroom celebrated the recent renovations
to the retail store with an exceptional roof-wetting celebration on the
weekend of the 23rd & 24th of August. The widest range of Orvis gear in
the country was available to try out and a number of customers who purchased
Orvis products won impressive prizes including Peter Herald who won an
Orvis Frequent Flyer 7 piece rod and Battenkill reel to the value of around
R4000.

| Flytying demonstration by Dr. Tom Sutcliffe |
Dr Tom Sutcliffe was on hand to personally autograph copies of his latest
book, "The Elements of Fly Tying" as well as selling original ink drawings
from the same book. Furthermore, he kind-heartedly divulged some of his
comprehensive fly-tying knowledge to many aspiring fly-tiers, including
tuition on tying his signature Zak Nymph. A host of patrons enjoyed and
benefited from the free fly-casting instruction that was given by instructors
Jonathan Boulton, Derek Manson and Paul Curtis which, for a brief moment
was interrupted while the Springboks were being soundly thumped (which
I won't expand upon at all).

| Trout canapés and wine |
The festivities started in earnest with delectable trout canapés provided
by Milly's of Machadodorp and superb wine by Simonsig. The last revellers
left at 12pm - not bad for a cocktail evening where the invitation specified
from 5-7pm!
