First used in the Western Streams of the US in the 1930’s, the Red Humpy is an all-time favorite of many a Mavungana employee. As Jonathan Boulton would say, “..it doesn’t really represent anything but rather a little bit of everything.” Its a great prospecting fly for any river with a trout in it, it is super buoyant and surprisingly, its also very visible due to those deer hair wings. Even at 20m, a size 18 Humpy is surprisingly easy to see on a stillwater.
It’s tied with a red, yellow, chartreuse and black underbody. Just let us know which colour suits your fancy.
