Developed by Mauro Ginevri, the Avalon Permit Fly is a rather newly invented pattern to catch Cuban Permit. In Cuba most flies fished imitate crabs, but this one actually imitates a shrimp.
The fly sinks quickly in deeper water, swims upright, and of course – it catches fish! In a short span of time it has accounted for well over 100 permit in Cuba alone, but is fished across the globe for this devil fish. The relationship between an angler and a Permit, especially the ones we get in the Seychelles, is one of love and hate. Need we say more?
But despite this, it’s a proven pattern and has a well deserved place in your box.
