Join Mavungana Flyfishing as we head to Ascension Bay, Mexico to target some of the most sought-after saltwater species the world has to offer.

Pesca Maya Fishing Lodge is a specialized flyfishing operation. Located in the Peninsula of Yucatan, Mexico, in the Biosphere Reserve of Sian Ka’an, between Ascension Bay and Bocapaila lagoons. Both places are world famous for their great flats-fishing. The Saltwater Sportsman magazine recommended them as “one of the best places in the world for Bonefish, Permit and Tarpon”.

Sian Ka’an is translated from the Mayan “where the sky is born” or “gift from the sky” and is situated in the Yucatan Peninsula. It was established as a Biosphere Reserve on January 20th, 1986, by presidential decree and declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987. Sian Ka’an is approximately 1.3 million acres in size and spans 120 km from North to South. In 1994 an area of over 200,000 acres to the south of the Reserve was named a “Protected Area of Flora and Fauna”, increasing the continued area of protected land.

Guests fly into Cancun, whereby they will be transferred to the lodge for 6 full days of fishing, 2 to a boat having the option of wading shallow flats, polling the deeper flats by boat and dredging the numerous reef systems & offshore waters for a multitude of species. Cocktails and snacks will be waiting for you upon your return each evening followed by an impressive dinner, Mexican Style!
