An old classic pattern for salmon adapted for trout – it is an attractor pattern, which fishes well in winter.
The Dunkeld pattern is a great attractor pattern for trout especially when there are large Daphnia blooms. It also imitates emergers that have been able to lose their wing cases and get hung up in the surface film.
Fish smaller sizes in clear water and larger sizes in discoloured water.
Fish this sub-surface on a floating line with a figure-of-eight retrieve, it can also be fished on an intermediate line.
