Renamed from Lady of the Lake by Major William Greer Turle to honour Alexandra, the princess of Wales, this pattern has been around since the 1860's. Like most traditional patterns, they were used for trout and Atlantic salmon, and in many cases still are. This fly was designed to imitate a small baitfish. We would recommend fishing this patterns as an attractor. In the winter months, you can fish it as a single fly, however, trailing it with a nymph or fishing it with a more natural traditional wet fly on a sinking line will be effective.
