The Crazy Charlie is a bonefish fly for saltwater fly fishing developed on Andros Island in the 70's in the Bahamas by local bonefish guide Charlie Smith. The fly was developed to imitate glass minnows a common forage for bonefis on the nearshore flats of south Florida and Caribbean islands.
The Crazy Charlie has become a staple fly for bonefish and Permit anglers around the globe. This fly is extremely effective in South Africa on our coastline and estuary systems for smaller saltwater species, imitating minnows and shrimps. The Rubber Leg Charlie adds another dimension to the fly, giving the fly more movement for an extra trigger. Great on sandy flats.
Olive works well on turtle grass and darker bottom flats.
