Richard Whitner looks to be the first person who tied the Alphlexo, but regardless of its origins it is one of the newer patterns we as South Africans fish.
It has taken the Seychelles scene by storm and is by far one of the most successful patterns for Permit, but also for other flats fish such as bones, triggers and bumpies. The pattern continues to evolve and the flexo tubing is now being used in an array of different flies – both for fresh and Saltwater, but we will forever associate it with this killer little crab!
Tied in many different colours and weights, we’d recommend matching the colour of the fly to the flat you’re fishing.
