Invented by Alfred Ronalds in 1836, this mayfly imitation is incredibly universal. Designed for the streams in the UK, this pattern will work on both rivers and lakes alike.
We would fish this pattern for both yellowfish and trout on a long 12-15ft leader. Make sure your tippet isn't visible, for this we'd step down to 5X or 6X tippet, depending on where you're fishing, but to make sure your tippet is sinking, we'd add a little bit of tungsten putty to the leader about 2 or 3 foot above the fly. This is a game changing technique for dry fly fishing.
