A variation of Leonard Halladay’s famous Adams Dry Fly, the Parachute Adams Dry Fly is an effective choice whenever you want your Adams to ride a little lower in the water and permit better visibility and buoyancy.
Initially tied as a general mayfly imitation, the Parachute Adams features a calf tail wing with a parachute tied hackle that rides evenly in the water, and while this fly wasn’t designed to match any specific insect, its grey body makes for a great imitation of anything from a Slate Drake, a Blue Quill, and even a small Blue Winged Olive if you need a representation in a pinch.
